Unsere neue Fremdsprachenassistentin
Hi my name is Kathryn Case and I’m very excited to be joining the NEG team for the school year. I’ll be working in the English department as a language assistant.
I’m originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland. I studied a Bachelor of Arts in the University of Bristol in England, and spent an Erasmus year in Graz, Austria in 2017. This is where my passion for the German language developed. Since then I have worked in several roles in the advertising and marketing industry, before taking almost two years to travel the world. I’ve been fortunate to discover many new cultures and meet people from all over the globe, but I’ve always wanted the chance to strengthen my German skills by living and working in Germany.
At NEG I’ll be helping out in English classes across different grades, and I‘ll also be reachable during DALTON time, so if any students would like extra practice speaking English, I’m here to help!
I’m still learning German myself, and find the language challenging at times, particularly the grammar, but my personal goal at the end of the year is to reach C1 level. I hope to set an example that making mistakes and having an accent are a normal part of learning a language – it’s all about progress, not perfection!
I’ll also be taking part in the English Theatre Group on Friday afternoons with Frau Flucht, so feel free to join if you’re interested in acting or just want to try something new.
Outside of school, I’m excited to explore North Rhine-Westphalia, the rest of Germany, and beyond. I live in Wuppertal and plan to make the most of my Deutschland Ticket by travelling on weekends to nearby cities such as Cologne and Düsseldorf. In my free time I enjoy running, reading, and shopping. I also love singing and would like to join a local choir while I’m here.
I’ll be at NEG until May 2026 and I’m really looking forward to working with the pupils and supporting them in their English learning journey.
